'password never expires' checkbox
We've used a security template to set the passwords to never expire and also
used the 'net accounts /maxpwage:unlimited' command. But when we go through computer management to see the properties of a user, the checkbox is not checked. We set the computer date to a few years future, logged off and back on and it didn't prompt for a password change so it looks like the change took. Is this box not being checked a known XP problem? Thanks! |

'password never expires' checkbox
Just checked the 2003 DC and it doesn't show this box ticked despite having a no-expiry domain policy , so I guess it's normal. Typing 'net user {username}' at a commandprompt will give you the lowdown on expiry. If you are concerned about travelling users being caught 'with their pants down' by a surprise expiry, then you could also increase the warning interval to 999 days. That way, if expiry does somehow reactivate itself you should hopefully know before the trip starts. 'password never expires' checkbox
This is for Windows XP Embedded systems which might be in the field for more than
3 years so we were hoping to be sure the passwords didn't expire :-) In article , Anteaus wrote: From: Anteaus Subject: 'password never expires' checkbox Date: Sat, 27 Sep 2008 00:16:01 -0700 Newsgroups: microsoft.public.windowsxp.security_admin Just checked the 2003 DC and it doesn't show this box ticked despite having a no-expiry domain policy , so I guess it's normal.
