Default Procedure To Install Win 7 Pro over Win XP Pro for Dual Boot

I do have the serial number of my Lenovo T500.

Looking for instructions. Any good URLs to look at ?

My understanding is that if Win XP Pro exists on the laptop, then Win 7
Pro will ask if this is a dual boot install.

Do I / Should I make a partition for Win 7 OS ?
Resize partitions to allow making a 40G partiton for Win 7 Pro or ?

Currently
C: 40G Free
D: 40G Free

I can delete more if necessary.

Will Win 7 Pro installer ask for drivers ?
If so, where do I put them.
If not, do I just finish Win 7 install and then figure out how to
install drivers. I need Video, USB, Network WiFi and LAN and audio.
What others should I install ?

If dual boot is not do-able or impossible, then I can live with only Win
7 Pro install leaving D: with my data alone I hope.
Dual boot is what I really need.
