Default Constant Stop Responding - Event Viewer shows no Errors

PAT: You need to give more detaled info on your system.
There are many things you can do to stop the hangs and
sloe performance. The easiest is when it slows, save work
and reboot. Then go to control panel and run the built in
performance measures incorporated into your system. Clean
your registry(carefully),delete temp files,recycle bin
and msconfig to start only your virus scan, modify visual
effects to the bare min.If this did not help do a non-
destruct recovery. And,lastly, perform a destructive
system recovery after you have saved your files. There
are lots of freeware out there to control the junk you
pick up from the web: Ad-Aware and Spybot are just two.

Anybody else have this problem? The past few months

have
been plagued with constant system hangs with seemingly

no
traceable error message or mention of the hang in the
event viewer. I thought maybe the Windows system

updates
would eventually take care of it, but they don't seem to
have an effect.

Sometimes it hangs in the middle of moving the mouse,
sometimes I'll leave the computer with no programs
running and come back a few hours later, with the system
having stopped responding an hour or two after I left it.
