Default hotfix 811493 looking for a copy !!

hotfix 811493

has anyone got a copy of the original bad hot fix- I
wanted to install it and do a complete uninstall.

Default hotfix 811493 looking for a copy !!

It is on Windows Update still.
It is now under Recommended Updates instead of Critical updates.

You can also get it from the Windows Catalog:

The original hotfix has not been changed.
When there is a change, there will be mention of the change he

That's if it ever gets updated. I've seen many an update on
Microsoft's site who's status is still set to "we are looking at the
issue and will release an update soon"!

I'm starting to think that Microsoft have decided to leave it as it
is.

I'm starting to think that Microsoft have decided to leave it as it

Actually, my understanding is that this one is more lengthy
as it involves coordination with third-parties (AV vendors).

Many of the KBs that end with "being investigated" seem to have
never been updated to reflect fixes in the next service pack.
