Neverthless, you DID make that post - the one that looked as if

You made yourself even MORE a part of the problem than you already

Ignore posts from Murphy.

Although AIOE does not show the NNTP-Posting-Host header to allow kill
filters to identify the nymshifter, AIOE assigns a unique domain in the
Message-ID header based on that poster's IP address. AIOE knows their
IP address but you don't, but you can create a rule to handle posts from
the same nymshifter. I did that with the "Tony" troll since his moniker
isn't unique enough for a kill filter but the domain in his Message-ID
header is unique to him because he uses AIOE.

So watch the Message-ID header. Other freebie NSPs may do the same. Of
course, you need to use an NNTP client that can actually test on the
Message-ID header. This header is included in the overview headers
(overview.fmt) so you can test on that header when you retrieve headers.

If your chess skills are as bad as your spelling and grammar skills,
I'm not the least bit concerned - in fact I'm looking forward to the
good laugh I expect to get from it.

Speaking of spelling, perhaps you'd do well to spend a little less
time in these groups and spend some of that savings to put all the
text on that pitiful web site of yours through a good spell-checker...
or to find a kid who's finished the 12th grade to check it for you.
It's hurting.

I've never seen a web site that offers computer services for sale that
also offers gardening design, has "gift ideas"/pictures for sale, and
has... recipes!

Need to sell those pictures to augment what little income your
computer and gardening services business generates? Hmmm?

John John:

I've recently spent a lot of time in the Vista groups tracking down
posters/trolls who constantly switch nicks and like to spoof other
posters.

Many - but not all - of the posters doing that use aioe.org to make
their posts. Aioe.org has no log-in so spoofing is easy using that
newsgroup server. Those aioe.org posts have the IP coded, but it's

Mick Murphy has been spoofed mercilessly in those groups by ONE person
using aioe.org to post the spoofed messages - and by another person
who makes no attempt to mask his IP (that same person spoofed me). The
aioe.org person has also sent a few messages as "HTCU" and "High Tech
Crime Unit". Now I see Murphy's being spoofed by that same aioe.org
account over here as well... and those same other nicks have also been
used over here.

Mick can get nasty when he's mad, but he's never spoofed anyone in the
MS groups, as he logs directly into the MS servers to post to the MS
groups. Can't spoof from there as far as I know - unless you hack the
person's login name and password.

Nass "spoofed" himself recently, judging from the headers. He too
logs directly into the MS servers to post. Like I said, you can't
spoof from there as far as I know.

Murphy isn't blameless in the back-and-forth crap between him and
nass, but he's not responsible for a lot that you've seen here. Being
spoofed hasn't helped.

Nass, however, took it to another level recently when he stepped over
the line and "spoofed" himself in an attempt to make Murphy look
worse.

Although AIOE does not show the NNTP-Posting-Host header to allow kill
filters to identify the nymshifter, AIOE assigns a unique domain in the
Message-ID header based on that poster's IP address. *

Actually - at least as far as aioe.org is concerned - the encrypted
form of the IP is in the "NNTP Posting-Host" line. It never changes
unless the poster has a dynamic IP and breaks the connection.

The IP address doesn't change because of breaking the connection. If
it's dynamic, and if its lease has expired, it is *eligible* for being
released and a new one assigned but that has nothing to do with the
connection to an NNTP server but with how your DHCP server functions.
Until you disable your network interface, you get to keep your expired
IP address (some DSL providers violate this tenet by forcing a session
drop after some max interval). You could be using that expired IP
address for months if you leave your host always powered up (or whatever
gets the IP address from your DHCP server). Expired doesn't mean dead.
Just eligible for reassignment. For cable/DSL users, even after
releasing and trying to renew their IP license, they often get
reassigned the same one from their ISP's IP allocation pool.

You're right that it's the NNTP-Posting-Host for AIOE where the poster's
IP address gets encrypted. Been a long time since I used AIOE. I
reviewed an AIOE's posters message and also looked back in my filter
rules and it does test on the NNTP-Posting-Host header.

AIOE knows their
IP address but you don't, but you can create a rule to handle posts from
the same nymshifter. *I did that with the "Tony" troll since his moniker

I don't use an NNTP client. Mostly it's Agent. Sometimes it's Google
Groups (like now).

NNTP = Network News Transfer Protocol

Forte Agent *is* an NNTP client. Google Groups is a webnews interface
to their archive but Google Groups also peers with other NNTP servers.
