Default Windows Live Emoticons

Hi,

I am trying to find where the Windows Live Customer Emoticons are saved
and also what file extension they should be on Windows XP.

When previously using an older version olf WLM i saved and emailled
myself all of my emoticons but now i have come to pot them in the folder
i cannot find where they go.

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers

Default Windows Live Emoticons

Greetings,

On Windows XP they will be at the following location:
\Documents and Settings\username\Local
Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Messenger\LiveID\ObjectStore\Custom Emoticons.

Where username is your Windows username and LiveID is your Windows Live ID e-mail address.

Additionally, some of these folders will be hidden by default, to see them simply press the
Alt key on the keyboard in any Windows Explorer window to bring up the toolbar, click Tools,
then Folder Options, then the View tab, and then choose 'Show hidden files and folders'.
After click OK, they should appear with the other folders.

Just zip up the folder and extract the zip into the exact same folder on another machine.
You'll need all the files inside.

Hi,

Is it the same Live ID? If it's not, this won't work as the metadata is encrypted per Live
ID. So you can't just copy in the files into another Live ID and have it work.

However, the .dt2 files are the actual images. You can go ahead and manually add them/rename
them/etc. to any account using the normal add emoticon window.
