Default Windows XP/Lexmark problem

I am running Windows XP (have been since I bought PC) and a Lexmark X125 all-in-one printer. It worked fine for a while, but stopped printing. The icon at bottom of screen no longer has a diamond, now has a red "X". Have uninstalled and reinstalled soft
ware several times. When I do this, printer will work a few days then quit again. Once when reinstalling, I was told the software was not compatible with Windows XP and the driver was not digitally signed. I downloaded a supposedly compatible and signed
driver from windows website, worked a few days, then quit again. I am at my wit's end. I can't keep uninstalling/reinstalling every few days to use my printer. Please, someone help. Where can I find a driver that is compatible and digitally signed. I
'm pulling my hair out here. HELP!!!!

How about the lexmark site, since you didn't mention any detail like where
you got your supposedly compatible driver:

And to uninstall completely follow Bruces site, pay attention about lexmark
printers towards bottom of page:

I know how you feel. Your lexmark will work. Tis solution has been
posted pris group and worked for us.

After a clean un-install, which hopefully you've done (if not read

check to make sure the USB port is powered

Download the driver for win XP
http://downloads.lexmark.com/cgi-perl/downloads.cgi

Follow the instructions to the letter. Do everything exactly as
directed, especially with disconnecting and reconnecting the USB
cable. Then read this next article and change the settings and see
what you get:

This is where you do the trial and error thing

*I have an X83. I hadn't been able to print for 2 weeks. I opened

*to WinPrint and tried the default data type NT EMF 1.008: nothing

*I tried 1.007, and again nothing happened when I tried to print a

*page from the General tab. But oh Boy! When I entered NT EMF 1.006
*and hit print test page from the General tab, this old X83 started
*printing like nobody's biznuss.
