USB appliances not found by explorer WIN XP
I posted this request for help on the german news group and got no
answers. Perhaps someone can help me here? For some reason XP home is no longer showing any connected USB device in explorer. The hardware removal icon will however show the device as being connected (well... sometimes..) If I switch to a dos window and type in the next free drive letter (in my case "K") then I immeadiately have full access to the device and can copy, delete etc etc. This error effects all of my usb devices (MP3 player, Camera, Harddisk). After having read several articles about this problem I have tried the following: Deleting USB Ports and re-booting Tried various different methods of connecting to the USB port Somewhere it was suggested that perhaps I had the option set that each explorer folder should be opened with a new process (this can apparantly also cause similar probelms). I do not. Any other good ideas??? Working with large amounts of data with lots of folders and sub folders is not too much fun in a DOS window! Eddy |
