If you can't gain control of the restarting, you should probably consider
rebuilding the system. -- Mark L. Ferguson e-mail subject line must include "QZ" or it's deleted .. "Kim" wrote in message ... It's likely that your system is invaded by Malware, or your hardware is
somehow damaged. You should seek trustworthy local help. It would take a bit more knowledge than you profess to have, to fix it in that state. -- Mark L. Computer keeps restarting
This kept happening to me a while back when I owned an e-machines PC. After
I owned it for a year all of the sudden it started to do this, I cleaned the insides real good, (Dust on fans) and even used some type of gel that was recommened for the CPU (something to do with heat). It worked for while then about a month later started to do the same thing again. Tried all of the above all over again and nothing. I ended up getting an HP PC and after 1 1/2 years, guess what, the same thing. This time I used that gel on the CPU, snugged the heatsink nice and tight, cleaned all the fans and it is now working great. |

I had this problem on several of my computers. I beginning that Microsoft
with all the updates have caused older computers to fail. All of mine are 3-5 years old. How old is yours? For some reason after I cleaned my hard drive with Cleaner and ran Defrag, everything is running fine on the computers. Maybe there was a virus that taxed the old computer to cause it to shutdown. Thank you for your response. I have got so many errors in event viewer on my
computer, I aml sending you the error codes, which are Source: Application Error Event ID: 1000, and Source: Application Hang Event ID: 1002. Also when it restarts itself the blue screen comes up and the error code as well, and then it shows pink screen after few seconds and again the blue screen until i don't press F8 it doesn't goes. Another thing is that I had a virus called Antivirus XP 2008 on my computer, but now it has gone by a spyware remover, but I can see that malware in add or remove programs from control panel. I don't know why it's not going from there. Please help me. Thank you. "F135" wrote: Hi, I think i have the same problem. If you remove all new memory and restore the original memory does the computer still restart? What is your computer make and model? What is your motherboard make and model? How did you decide the type of new memory needed? Putting 4 gb RAM is a 32 bit computer is a waste of money as the the computer has cannot use all the memory because there is insufficient available address space. What particular use have you in mind which might require a lot of memory ? -- Hope this helps. Computer keeps restarting
Hi all, I have a similar problem. I've got a win XP home and a Win XP pro both on my Dell laptop. It had a virus (the recycler one wich creates an autoplay.ini file in disk drives). I tried to remove the virus by using an antivirus (symantec), removing the recycler and autoplay files and also removing them from the registery of my windows (the home one). In the registery, I removed the key and values of the commands of hard drives which referred the autoplay.ini file in the recycler folder of that drive. The problem is that: after I restarted my laptop, It just showed me the list of two windowses but when I choose one and press enter, the laptop restarts again!! I tried to start both windowses in the safe mode, or load the last config of them that worked properly by pressing the f8 button, but it restarted again! I also tried to use the win XP CD to recover it (recovery console, using chkdsk, fixboot, fixmbr, copying system file from the repair folder to system32/config) but I could'nt. Also I formatted one of the drives and installed a new version of XP on it (the professional one) but it didn't help also. Now, grateful to you for your patience in reading this long post, I wanted to ask if there is any way I can fix this problem. Can you please post a complete copy of the Stop Error report. Disable automatic restart on system failure. This should help by allowing time to write down the STOP code properly. Keep pressing the F8 key during Start-Up and select option - Disable automatic restart on system failure. Do not re-enable automatic restart on system failure. Check for variants of the Stop Error message. What is your computer make and model? What exactly do you have by way of a Windows XP CD? Try booting with only keyboard, mouse and monitor connected. -- Hope this helps. Gerry, Thanks a lot for your reply. I have a Dell laptop: 1G Ram (which I upgraded to 2G about 6 months ago), Win XP Home, Core duo CPU(2.0), 80G Hard. I had some problems about a month ago with my windows XP home, and repaired it using my laptop's windows CD. Then I installed a win XP Pro on another partition of it. After a while I couldn't hibernate my windows sometimes. It gave me a system error of limited resources. I didn't care and then after this virus deletion my system keeps restarting and I can't even go to the safe mode. Because when I press the F8 button and choose the safe mode option, It goes back to the windowses list and after I select one of them, it will restart again. I tried to disable the automatic restart on system failure, but it didn't help at all because it keeps retarting yet What can I do now? --Sherry -- chagh ------------------------------------------------------------------------ chagh's Profile: http://forums.techarena.in/members/chagh.htm View this thread: http://forums.techarena.in/windows-xp-support/24657.htm http://forums.techarena.in |
