windows 98 and xp connection super problem!!!
I have had same problem as Kevin, although I was able to
ping the two machines & I was able to view files on XP Laptop from my 98SE Computer. I wish MS gave more information on this. How about it Bill ??? -----Original Message----- same problem (w/ XPHome and WinME machines). Try installing IPX protocol, File and printer sharing service, and Msoft client for Netware Networks (dont use networking wizard; don't setup xp machine as ICS / firewalled machine). If you get it to work, please post (I cant get alternate client installed, despite msoft documentation which says I should be able to). -----Original Message----- well i've wasted over 10 hours of searching how to connect my windows xp laptop to the windows 98 desktop but nothing worked.Previously i had windows 2000 in my laptop add the connection between the two was fine. Now i've tried everything.I'm using tcp/ip with defined ip numbers.Same workgroup name. The drives are shared. No firewall either.i cannot ping the two machines from each other.I'm desperate!!! What can i do??? . . |
