Some other player ? --- news://freenews.netfront.net/ - complaints: --- Suggestions: Check your configuration settings in VLC. There are several settings there that you could experiment with for the video playback. The fact that you're getting pixelation suggests it's attempting to play the video, at least. Or perhaps you could use an updated version of VLC. Try Chrome and see if it plays in there. (IE8 is almost useless now on most sites). Firefox (the XP version) is getting more problematic with time, since the web is always changing, otherwise I would have suggested it, too. |

Some other player ? VLC should really be using a pretty good library for this. You could look for "ffplay.exe" for WinXP. https://msfn.org/board/topic/177308-...ws-xp-in-2017/ https://rwijnsma.home.xs4all.nl/files/ffmpeg/?C=M;O=D ffmpeg-N-92765-g2744d6b-win32-static_legacy.7z 2018-12-22 03:00 29M Open with 7ZIP to decode it. ffplay.exe 64,577,536 bytes SHA1= A1C381A41142E2FBF82553A5C0794E2E242D4BC9 Clean https://www.virustotal.com/#/file/12...230a/detection ffplay some.mp4 I have no idea how well that will work. I fed it a test video, and scaling to your processor, it should work. HTH, Paul |

[] I'd certainly go for a standalone player like VLC or ffplay, rather than trying to play inside a browser. There _may_ be some settings you can tweak, but I fear if VLC is pixellating, then it's trying, and you're just running out of processing power. If you use VLC's slow down buttons, do the videos play at half, third, quarter speed? If so, live with that for now, and look into reducing the resolution of the videos (though on a single-core processor the conversion will take a while). -- J. P. Gilliver. Download the FREE program called "Media Player Classic". MPC is awesome. It works flawlessly on my old XP laptop which has a processor about the same speed as yours. It also works perfectly on my much older desktop computer (made in 2000), running Windows 98. You may need to install some additional codecs, otherwise it works immediately. You can even install it to a flashdrive for portable use. The file you download will be named something like this: MPC-HC.1.7.5.x86.exe (There is probably a newer version, I have not checked in awhile, since this one works fine). I dont know if this works on Windows 7, 8 or 10, since I dont have them. But it works great on XP and Win98. I have used it for many years... |

One advantage of VLC is it has the codecs built in, IIRC. For MPC, you may need to add something like the K-Lite Codec Pack to be able to play some videos, like perhaps some mp4s. |
