Another GMail Question

When I open the GMail page (using IE 11 and Win 7) I am unable to
directly open any imbedded hyperlink, contained in any email.

To open such a link, I now take the "extra" step of right clicking
that link; then choose "Open in a New Tab/ window". Then the link
will open, in new tab.

NOTE: If I just right click on a Gmail hyperlink, a new "Blank" tab
opens, NOT the intended site.

Can I configure GMail to open hyperlinks directly/ automatically,
without that noted extra step?

Sure, you can get yourself a dedicated email reader program, like
Thunderbird, and have Thunderbird download your Gmail messages directly.

Gmail does not provide a configuration setting to toggle links on/off
for opening in the same or another or tab window.

Signoff Gmail, reset your browser,restart and retest. If still doesn't
work then check your browser settings or test other brothers which may
(should) reveal the the issue as browser related.

Do you see a yellow infobar telling you that a popup was blocked?

Does clicking on the MIDDLE mouse button open the hyperlink in a new
tab?

Does Ctrl+Alt+rightclick open the hyperlink in a new tab?

If any are true then I suspect you upped popup blocking in IE to its
most agressive mode. That prevents any popups from working (and that
includes opening new tabs since you probably have IE configured to show
popups in a new tab).

If it is not a popup mode issue then start IE in its safe mode. That
eliminates behaviors created by add-ons you installed for IE.

I don't think testing other 'brothers' will help much..browsers would be
a better choice. g

Fyi...also, opening GMail online web UI with IE11 at this end...the
links in emails work when clicked, no additional navigation 'extra
steps' necessary. Running IE in its default mode with PopUp Blocker and
Smart Screen both enabled.
