.net messenger service, what is it ?

Hi all.

I have installed MSN messenger 6 and have removed XP windows messenger
(add/remove programs, windows components).

I find that on some occasions when MSN messenger tries to logon I see a
message saying I was already logged on to .net messenger on another
computer.

I have a passport setup but what is going on, do I need to change anything
else?

..NET is the framework which Windows XP keeps you, well, connected to things. This is a luxury given by Windows to keep you "signed in" wherever you go that supports the .NET framework so those places recognize you and remember you. It's telling you that
you're signing out of what Windows has logged you in with in the .NET framework, and you're using another program other than windows to log in with the .NET framework. I know it's confusing, and I apologize if it's hard to understand. You Log Into windo
ws, windows logs you into .NET, you log into messenger, you're logging into .NET with your same username and password via Windows. So you're actually logging into the same .NET environment with Messenger, as you are with windows. So it's telling you you'
re logged into two places, 1. Windows, and 2. Messenger. Cool?
