Default Windows XP Administrator Password

Hi everyone. First time post c. maybe a silly question. I'm trying
to install TrendMicro and the installation routine keeps asking me for
an Administrator Privilege pwd. AFAIK I don't have one. I never set
a pwd. on this computer. I see where I can in Control Panel under
"users." Is the problem as simple as my just entering a pwd. and that
becomes the administrator pwd? Thanks in advance for any help. As
you all can see, I'm not exactly a computer whiz! BillR.

If you didn't set any password then you simply need to press the [enter]
key when promted to enter the password.

By default, the first account created on any XP, Vista, Windows 7,
Windows 8/8.1 or Windows 10 is always an Administrator user. Password i
normally optional but most people create one anyway. I always do.
However, if there is no password then try pressing the enter key.

Hope this helps.

I tried your suggestion but it didn't work. All that happened was
that the "Password" request stayed in place. Thanks for the advice.
Am I risking anything if, after all this time, I create a new
password? BillR.

What operating system are you using? When you boot the system, what
accounts appear on the welcome screen? Which one do you use? Does
your account have any administrator privileges?

I'm using WinXP, 32 bit version. When I boot, no accounts appear on
the welcome screen although I think they did back in the day several
years ago. My account is listed under my name in Control Panel as the
administrator but there's no password set c. it because I never set
one up. I think that's what I should do but there's no rush on this
since the TrendMicro program is good until 6/30 and also I've renewed
the same program at least twice before and nothing like this ever
happened. Mostly I'm just trying not to make a bad situation worse.
Thanks for the help. BillR.
