Default IE11 Missing

For some reason I cannot get to the internet from the desktop with
IE11. I was on the internet when suddenly the screen show empty. My
email works and I get to the internet from the Windows 8 metro location
but when I click on IE11 I get the address but nothing but a white text
area. I can also down load a new version of Itunes.

Any ideas what happened?

IE has gone into OFFline mode?
"File", near the bottom of the list "Work in offline mode".
J.

In windows 8 there is a function called Airplane mode, It is very easy
to accidentally activate. You can change it back, in the Network
"Charm" Since I work elusively from the desk top you can also access it
from the network Icon in the task bar.

Sometimes elusively is the best way. ;-)

Did you mean to say Flight Mode?

I'm not Keith, but if he doesn't mind my butting in, I'll confirm that
it's called "airplane mode."

Not sure why I have got this one:

Perhaps we talking about two different things altogether? That's the
beauty of these newsgroups

OK, then, tell us what *you* are talking about :-)

I already know what the others are referring to.

I was talking about "Flight Mode". I don't have "Airplane Mode" on my
Windows 8.1 Toshiba laptop.

Have you got it? United Kingdom versions of Windows 8/8.1 must be
different.

So it looks like the versions of Windows 8/8.1 for European Market are
different from the ones you get in US. I got my picture using exactly
the same way as the article you quoted here got it.

Quite bizarre.

Guess so. I have airplane mode but this video has flight mode.

I have been away for a few days so am just seeing the responses.I tried
the suggestions with no luck. In desperation I returned to a system
restore of a week ago and when the system rebooted every thing was OK.
I do a full backup every Saturday morning and an incremental one each
night. Backup has saved me again.

Thanks for all the responses.

I don't know whether it's UK or Toshiba, but your post somewhere else in
this thread indicates to me that Fight Mode is a synonym for Airplane
mode, so all is resolved (at least for me).

Thanks, and bon voyage :-)

You are very likely right. That hadn't occurred to me.

Microsoft has again confused a lot of people with their nomenclature.
There is no reason why the US and UK versions should be different for
this.
