major crashing - can windows xp be repaird/reinstalled without a disc
have been crashing my toshiba satellite laptop for 3 days.
it's been runing slow for a couple weeks so i did a norton scan disc - and that's when i got the first crash BLUE SCREN OF DEATH Windows detected an error and shut down to protect itself. windows has recovered from a critical error getting messages - DELAYED WRITE FAILURE - cannot write to disk - DATA LOST cannot do 2 things at once - it locks it up and crashes and gives me the dreaded BSoD Windows XP Home Edition was preinstalled on here - i have no disc for it. is there any way i can repair my Windows XP of the laptop itself. are the Windows XP files somewhere on my laptop??? need help here FAST. anyone???? thanx - greyhound_gal |

If there is a hidden restore partition it will probably be one that sets your machine back to the factory defaults which means you will lose every thing on the HDD. Before you do this download a copy of Knoppix (http://www.knoppix.org/), boot your machine from this and copy your data etc. over to a USB memory stick or an external HDD. If there is not a hidden partition then you could try contacting Toshiba and see if they can supply you with the relevant CD or CDs otherwise you will need to purchase a new copy of XP and download the relevant drives from the Toshiba web site. |
