Default Windows Creates A Subdirectory Called "thumbs"

I am using Windows 7, 64-bit.

I have recently noticed that a subdirectory called "thumbs" is created
by Windows every time that I use a USB flash drive.

That's not a big deal but I'm wondering if this is something that
affects only me for some reason...

Are you sure it is a subdirectory and not just a file named "thumbs.db"?

Windows 7 Ultimate SP1

I see a folder named ThumbsCache. It is empty.

I also see 220 files named Thumbs.db. They range in size from 5 KB to
1.8 MB.

Donald Trump claims he is a successful businessman.
If so, how does he explain the number of his
enterprises that have gone bankrupt?

100% sure. It is a folder not a file...

And you didn't install something /else/ that could be doing this, like
ACDSee or some other picture viewer app, or "data manager" apps, like
the ones that comes in Nero Ultimate, Nero Media Home and/or Nero Media
Browser?

I was just about to respond with a similar comment / question. A virgin installation of Windows 7 does not
create a "thumbs" subdirectory on any drive, to the best of my knowledge.

I suspect he has some 3rd party software installed on the machine which is doing this. He could use the MS
process monitor to determine what program might be creating the folder.

Older versions of Paint Shop Pro do this.

Regards,

I didn't install new software but I certainly updated some of that
which is already installed.

I have the suspicion that my issue has something to do with Windows 10.
But I'm not 100% sure. I use the same USB flash drive on both Windows
7 and Windows 10 PCs (two separate PCs, not the same one with a
dual-booting setup). I'm not 100% sure but I think that the "thumbs"
subdirectory started showing up in the Windows 7 PC after I converted
the other one to Windows 10.

No big deal. I was just curious to see if somebody else has the same
situation and knows what is causing it.

I doubt if it's Windows creating it. The only thumbs subdirectory I
can find is one buried deep within Quicken.
