my dvd drive reads music cd's and games but wont find dvd
movies. When in d.o.s., typing e: says drive not ready.
whats wrong???

You need to have a DVD decoder (software) installed to play DVD movies. You
need to read the manuals and documentation that came with the unit. The
software you require came on the Drivers CD that the unit came with. The
docs that came with the unit will tell you how to install it.

CD use on type of laser and DVD uses another, the drive
could be defective. You also need the proper
software/drivers loaded.
Try removing the DVD with device manager and rebooting. The
proper drivers should be loaded. You might need to use the
CD that came with the drive to install the DVD software
before you install the DVD so it can detect the drivers.
