Alias...It does not matter whether they mention it or not...Common sense demands it....I bet most people (with brains) have surge protection on there TV's....Battery backup is simply a wise thing to do if you do not want to lose info...The big computer builders are in the business to sell computers and if someone toasts one all the better...Being a electronics geek I have always thought this way even before I got my first computer which was win95 by the way Having brains and having knowledge are two, separate things. Most people do not know what a UPS is and don't ask for it. If you don't believe me, peruse the OE newsgroups and look for "I lost all my messages!" subject headings. NO, it's BECAUSE every new version of Windows is full of hundreds of crappy
bugs, design faults and "improvements" that aren't, not because we don't like change. Read these forums. Change is exactly what hundreds of posters are asking for. Not change back to something familiar, but change to something that is logical, sensible, easy to understand and works. Vista is ten times more stable than XP was when it came out, but it is also full of the most atrocious errors and all MS can do is what they always do - blame the victim - it's our fault because we didn't know about this or that undocumented feature or we must have done something not allowed to make it malfunction. The whole problem comes from the fact that MS is the world's biggest monopoly and can sell what they like. Most people are naturally resistant to change. They don't like "new" when they are comfortable with "old and familiar". I couldn't agree more with those last two sentences. You see the same thing with *every* new version of Windows that is released. -- Ken Blake, Microsoft MVP Windows - Shell/User Please Reply to the Newsgroup |
