Default Logitech Webcam / Yahoo Messenger Sound Problem

OK, here's a weird problem. Any ideas?

I installed Logitech Quickcam Messenger webcams on two computers:
Computer 1: Windows XP Pro SP0
Computer 2: Windows 2K Pro SP3

Now the Yahoo Messenger Buzz Friend command doesn't work on either
computer. When anyone Buzzes me, I can hear the internal speaker emit
just a tiny buzz. It ignores the stereo external speakers that all
the other sounds (all other YM sounds too) and programs use.

If I go into any Sound setup wizard, including the Yahoo Messenger
sound setup wizard, all sounds, including the Buzz Friend sound, play
correctly - thru the external speakers. Yet ANY sound, that I
designate as the Buzz Friend sound, plays as a tiny buzz thru the
internal speaker, when actually sent by another YM user.

I reinstalled YM on Computer 2. No improvement.

This isn't a minor problem. I depend (used to depend) upon anyone
trying to reach me thru YM to Buzz me. I can't now.
