Problem: I now appear as user name-mobile
Hi all,
I was assigned a new cell phone from work. It has 2 way text messaging. I set it up to do Messenger through SMS, not through their web browser. Now, on my friend's PC Messenger window, I appear in the contact window as my name, dash (-) mobile. Furthermore, while we were chatting pc to pc, his messenger window indicated that I was not online at all. Here's what I thought was supposed to happen. I thought that you could right click the contact name and send a message to the users mobile device but otherwise the default is the users pc. How do I fix this? Am I supposed to show up as "mobile" all the time? Thanks, Bob Kruse |

Greetings Bob,
You'll show up as Mobile when you're on your phone. However, when you sign in on your PC, it should go back to normal. This is actually a MSN Messenger 5 feature, in 4.x the works as you described. However, you shouldn't show up as Mobile all the time. ____________________________________________ Jonathan Kay Windows MVP, Messenger Associate Expert http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/expertzone/ Messenger Resources - http://messenger.jonathankay.com "Bob Kruse" wrote in message ... Thanks Johathan,
We were messing around with the mobile and the desktop. Amazingly enough, I was able to send and receive on both at the same time. My guess is you're not supposed to be able to do that and it messed things up a bit. I showed up without the Mobile on my friend's system today. Interesting stuff. Hi Bob,
Very interesting. Unfortunately at the moment, I don't even own a phone with access to MSN Mobile, so I can only rely on what I've seen from other people. ____________________________________________ Jonathan Kay Windows MVP, Messenger Associate Expert http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/expertzone/ Messenger Resources - http://messenger.jonathankay.com "Bob Kruse" wrote in message ...
