Default Problem: I now appear as user name-mobile

Hi all,

I was assigned a new cell phone from work. It has 2 way text
messaging. I set it up to do Messenger through SMS, not through their
web browser. Now, on my friend's PC Messenger window, I appear in the
contact window as my name, dash (-) mobile. Furthermore, while we
were chatting pc to pc, his messenger window indicated that I was not
online at all.

Here's what I thought was supposed to happen. I thought that you
could right click the contact name and send a message to the users
mobile device but otherwise the default is the users pc.

How do I fix this? Am I supposed to show up as "mobile" all the time?

Thanks,
Bob Kruse

Greetings Bob,

You'll show up as Mobile when you're on your phone. However, when you sign in on your PC, it
should go back to normal. This is actually a MSN Messenger 5 feature, in 4.x the works as
you described. However, you shouldn't show up as Mobile all the time.

Thanks Johathan,

We were messing around with the mobile and the desktop. Amazingly
enough, I was able to send and receive on both at the same time. My
guess is you're not supposed to be able to do that and it messed
things up a bit. I showed up without the Mobile on my friend's system
today. Interesting stuff.

Hi Bob,

Very interesting. Unfortunately at the moment, I don't even own a phone with access to MSN
Mobile, so I can only rely on what I've seen from other people.
