Hi Guys

Is it possible to password protect individual folders on XP pro? You see im
on a network and there are items on my C drive that anybody can access using
the "computername\C$".

Not everyone can access the C$ share, only Administrators
as defined by you on your machine.

In otherwords, they either be logging on to their machine with a username /
password which exists as an Admin account on your machine, or they must know
an Admin username / password which exists on your machine to supply when
prompted.

So you simply need to look at the Admin accounts which you have set up on
your machine, and prevent this account info becoming known.

Note that someone who is an admin on their own machine does not have any
admin rights over your machine, unless you have created an admin account for
them.

If you are on a Domain, the Domain Admins are automatically Admins of your
machine. There's nothing you can do about that.

In order to set up specific share permissions in XP-Pro, you need to set up
user accounts and then add those users to the share or NTFS Access Control
Lists. This article attempts to show you how:
