Default "NEC D-Cube" MP3 player not recognized by WinXPproSP2

I have used this mp3 player which I bought in China more than 5 years ago
successfully until just recently (after installing some WinXP updates). Now,
when I plug in the NEC d-cube mp3 player a "new hardware found" window pops
up that asks to install the software for the wrong (and completely unknown
device, "Trumpion 33529 ISP enable"). I have no idea what that device is but
after googling it I discovered a common software maker (Cowon) for both my
NEC mps player and this unknown 'Trumpion device'.

My mp3 player [NEC D-cube #MI-R930] is apparently not supported by NEC any
longer. I can't find any support listed on NEC's website, either in the U.S.
or globally.

Regardless, it seems to me to be an "Windows issue"
since it has only been after the last batch of Windows updates were
installed that Windows stopped recognizing the player.
