Why are they still putting up that message? Only windows 98 was stupid enough to forget to write all the data to the USB device. I just pull them out nowadays. Did you right-click on the ICON and see what options you get? Please try it before wasting Keith Knuttle's time. He is doing his best to explain to you but for some unknown reasons you don't understand him. Why is this so Mr Knife? Also, why is it that your posts normally generate more posts that have nothing to do with Windows 10. For example you recently asked something about "Annoying Printers" and it generated more responses about colour of the car and what environment can do to it.. Your question didn't have anything to do with Windows 10 at all. -- With over 950 million devices now running Windows 10, customer satisfaction is higher than any previous version of windows. |

Why on earth would I do that? I simply pointed out a pointless icon. You need to contact Microsoft to point out any pointless icons on your machine. There is nothing we can do aprt from advising you what you can do to disable them. We don't work for Microsoft. Please try it before wasting Keith Knuttle's time. I was replying to you not Keith (I think, you've deleted the quotation). I am not trying to help you because it is a complete waste of time generating useless responses from other users. I simply pointed out what an intelligent person would do before posting a useless post on a public newsgroup. Keith is a very helpful person here so you need to read his posts and take appropriate actions. -- With over 950 million devices now running Windows 10, customer satisfaction is higher than any previous version of windows. |

And there's no point in contacting Microsoft, they ignore their customers. For example nobody wants forced updates, yet they insist on them. Please try it before wasting Keith Knuttle's time. Yes, it says On for all of these things on my computer, but I never get any notifications. The key question is what we "lose" when we turn off this stuff. I just turned it _all_ off, but when I plugged in an iPad, I heard the bong, but I didn't get any popup saying it was mounted. So, _one_ of those notifications _may_ have affected what happens when you plug in a new device (or an old device that you plug in again). But which one? Narrowing down the list just from an intuitive analsys of the name of the setting, do you think it is one of these? Network = Off Connect = Off Get notifications from apps and other senders = Off Get notifications from these senders AutoPlay = Off Settings = Off Storage settings = Off |

Wasn't the folder opening (or whatever you set to be the action taken) enough? When I plug in my camera, I get a folder opening showing all the photos on it. If you ignored the Notification, you might be crashing about two minutes later. Resource messages like that are OK. The Windows Defender related stuff, not so much. If that's a notificatio, I do get a small blue borderless window that slides into view int he bottom right, and a loud sound, when I plug in phone. What's interesting is that the sound is louder than any other sound I have, or at least it's at or near maximum even when the volume is set lower. I'd be willing to forego this sound, I thing, but it's only once a day.
