Open Help and Support, and type Simple File Sharing in the search box, =
then click on "Dislay the Security tab" then look under related topics =
in the right Window. To do what you want throughout Windows, you'll need =
XP-Pro. Home version is limited to the Documents and Settings folders =
for each user.

These options become available if the drive format is NTFS..

In XP Home Edition, you would have to start the computer in Safe mode to
access the security tab.
Also, you need to have NTFS.

i'm xp pro ntfs

right-click folder gives me "sharing & security" option

then i have tabs "general" "sharing" "web sharing" "customize"

none of these provides me with options for setting ntfs security on
files/folders

You have to disable Simple File sharing. ToolsFolder OptionsView uncheck
"use simple file sharing"
