Default Can't rid system of bad password for log on ??

"EJ" said in :
When I click on my INternet explorer to connect to web through the
default connnection, there is a bad password saved in that window. I
can delete the bad connection only to have it reappear on the next
boot up. How can I rid my system of that bad password/connection
error?

You never mentioned WHAT type of connection you are using for Internet
access. So, are you using dial-up? If so, have you reconfigured your
dial-up connectoid under the Network applet to specify your correct
password?

YEs, even with tech support from Earthlink Dial up assistance. They suggested a corrupted Client Sharing file.

Have you tried blanking your password (by deselecting the save password
option, try to make a connection, abort it) and then filling it in
(enable the save password option, try to make a connection, and then
specify it)? This not only attempts to blank out your password but also
forces a toggle in the state or behavior for that function.

Unable to Clear the Password Box in the "Connect to" Dialog Box
After Remote Connection

Have you checked out the following KB article yet?

User Name and Password Not Retained for Dial-Up Connection in
Windows XP Service Pack 1 (SP-1)
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=818895

Although the KB article says they will waive the service fee, when I
have called to get an unreleased hotfix and it sounds very applicable to
my problem, they just give me the URL to download the file along with a
password (or it is in a temp FTP directory so I have to get it quick).
Since they won't know if it fixed your problem (because you've hung up
to do the download and then test it), they can't charge you because
there is no verification if the alpha hotfix fixed your problem or not.

I tried deselecting and reselecting, but not what you describe. Un clear as to when to try abort, but I'll try that.
