If I knew the name of the executable, I could delete it. Andy |

Thanks. http://customer.comcast.com/help-and...uite-software/ Multi-AV Scanning Tool - http://multi-av.thespykiller.co.ukht...s/dl/35905.asp http://customer.comcast.com/help-and...uite-software/ I love how, on the one hand, Comcast give away a "security suite". Then on the other, offer... "XFINITY Signature Support. Subscribers to our affordable, premium support service..." In other words, *pay* to remove the product they trapped you into accepting. Good business. It's like the door to door vacuum salesman, who dumps a can of dirt on your carpet as part of a vacuum cleaner demonstration. And that Comcast web page, only recommends the standard "Add/Remove" path. There is a reference to a removal tool here, but the original poster doesn't comment on it. So we don't know whether you run this instead of using Add/Remove, or after running Add/Remove. (The tool is either a full uninstaller, or it's a cleanup afterwards tool.) http://forums.comcast.com/t5/Securit...m/td-p/1446351 This is the tool. http://downloads.idvault.com/comcast...eaninstall.exe That also suggests the company that sources the software (IDVault?). One of those dead-end style support pages. Typically, an OEM software product, the company "giving it away" provides support. So IDVault would say "it's Comcast's problem". http://cgps.idvault.com/support/contactus.html Help is as near as... traversing the entire web, looking for it... This is a Comcast customer, with Constant Guard installed... http://www.clipartguide.com/_named_c...rt_image .jpg Paul |

Remove Comcast Constant Guard
It happens that Andy formulated :
How in the blankety blank blank do you remove COMCAST's Constant guard program ? It only pops up in a browser. Thanks. "Word to the wise - if you have issues removing a piece of software - like this - and the chances are good that something has corrupted the uninstaller - or a registry corruption is keeping the uninstall from working - go to control panel to Administrative Tools to Services and stop the service for that application, then go to the control panel to uninstall/remove." The above answer worked for an individual who asked about the same situation as you are having in the below forum or as another replied stopping the service and then using the uninstall tool worked. http://forums.comcast.com/t5/Securit...d/td-p/1290297 -- Zo "Specialist in women and other diseases." -- A sign outside of Roman doctor's office. |

(If it's a browser add-on, check the browser's add-on controls; in Firefox they're under Tools [or Ctrl-Shift-A] and each one has a disable button. I can't speak for other browsers.) From that I take it that it isn't in the add/remove list. This probably means that the uninstaller didn't complete for whatever reason. One solution to this often suggested (I don't know for this ComCast thing, but in general) is to reinstall the offending software (yes, however much it grates to do so!), after which its entry in add/remove may reappear, and can be invoked and will work. -- J. How in the blankety blank blank do you remove COMCAST's Constant guard program ? It only pops up in a browser. Thanks. I see this is quite old but though I'd add some helpful info.. I added 'https://constantguard.comcast.net' to my firewall rules (blocked keywords) and no more constant guard popups. I don't think it is an executable or plugin on your system. Comcast injects the popup into the results of your page request so that when you receive a response from whatever server you also get the popup. I run my own web socket server so that my mobile app (self designed) can interact with my server without the overhead of a web server (it's very fast).. Comcast probably notices the non-standard ports in use and flags my connection as having a bot on a local machine so they inject the popup. I also use a store bought modem instead of theirs and a firewall so that all they can see is the name of the modem and no further ( I set a special name just for them ). They can't even send a reset signal (which they used to do periodically when I was using their hardware. I hope this helps some folks out there plagued with this annoyance. |
