Default Windows Messenger [Email Alerts]

I'm trying to make it so I don't receive Email alerts -
so I have unchecked "Display alerts when email is
received" in messengers preferences - and I'm still
receiving a pop up alert when a new email is received.
Is this normal? If not, what can I do to fix it? thanks

I have messenger 4.7

Greetings Eric,

Yes, this option doesn't actually turn off in Windows Messenger 4.x. To really turn them
off, you'll simply need to deactivate the MSN Add-In. To do so, open up the main Messenger
window, click the Tools menu, then Add-Ins, then click MSN.
