MB/CPU Upgrade

Current System is running on a Supermicro 2x1GHz P3 1gb
memory (cache ?) with Video, Audio,Adaptec 29160AUW SCSI,
2x 60GB HDDs + 1 120GB HDD (connected to a TempoTrio
Card). Want to upgrade to Supermicro 2x 3.06GHz 2MB
Memory + 512K cache each. I suspect that DOS booting will
give no problems and let me have access to the 3 SCSI
CD/DVD devices (4th {SONY} is eide, but necessary right
away) We're using all 3 32-bit cards and the 64-bit SCSI
card. It would be great if XP booted up, but I hope we
don't have to start from scratch. There are quite a few
Programs installed. Both the old & new MBs are as low on
the bells & whistles (old MB has only LAN - new has
LAN10/100 + 1000(not going to use)+ ATI video (we're
jumpering it out to use old ATI Video card)Generally
speaking the new and old & new MBs are similiar, but
under the hood it's going from a Ford to a Ferrari.

Hi Eugene,

When you do the motherboard swap do not boot directly into windows.
Boot from the XP cd and run a repair install to correct the HAL. Be sure to
press F6 to load SCSI drivers if necessary and do not choose the first
repair option--choose new install. XP will search the drives and tell you it
found an installation and would you like to repair it. Press R for repair.
Do not panic--the files it is deleting are the windows system files, not
personal files.

After the repair finishes, boot to windows and reinstall all updates and or
service packs.
DO NOT run the repair install with the network cable connected if you use a
broadband connection. If you are repairing from a XP Gold cd you will be hit
by Blaster and/or Sasser before the installation completes if you leave it
connected.
