Default Slow Network File copy after XP SP2 Upgrade

I have a computer with an on board Intel 1000/PRO MT NIC. When I upgrade my
machine to Windows XP SP2 my network performance becomes very poor. Example:
copy a 5MB file across the network (switched 100MB network) to a file server
takes 40-60 seconds. Uninstall SP2, and performance goes back to normal (file
copy takes place almost immediately).

What makes this really strange is the problem is only one way. Only when I
copy from the problem machine out to another. When I go to another machine
and copy to the problem machine, the copy takes place almost immediately!

I don't believe this issue to be related to the network. I have a notebook
computer running WinXP SP2 as well, if I plug it into the same switch using
the same cable, it works fine.

Other settings tried to fix issue...
- AntiVirus on/off doesn't change performance.
- XP firewall on/off doesn't change performance.
- Tried latest NIC drivers from Intel (ver 9.1 from 10/2004) doesn't change
performance.
- Tried several config changes on NIC (full duplex, half duplex, etc...)
with no positive change in performance.
- I even wiped the PC and installed Windows XP w/SP2 from scratch, the
problem still exists.

This problem has been driving me nuts for several weeks. Any help is greatly
appreciated.
Thanks!

Microsoft offers free telephone support for Service Pack 2 (see
http://www.michna.com/kb/WxSP2.htm for some more details).

Whether they can solve your problem, I don't know, but it may be
worth a try, given that you've pretty much traced the cause back
to SP2.

The only other thing I would try is to disable the on-board
network adapter and install a different one from a different
manufacturer, at least for a test.
