Default gui window stacking

hi folks

lately - it seems - perhaps after installing some apps that tinker with
directshow & video codecs - my open windows are disappearing.

example, the file-open dialogue box disappears under other open windows; or
certain instances of winzip disappear, or "new email" windows in OE open
under other windows etc.

any ideas? my display card is an older one (matrox millenium), but I could
re-install the drivers i suppose...

another annoyance is that video editing apps always seem to bring up this
"fddshow" management console.

well, anyway, perhaps a cigarette will help.

gotta lite?

That wouldn't have anything to do with your display adapter drivers. It could
be OS corruption, a bad app rearranging the window z-order, or perhaps a
more likely possibilty,, a defective mouse or cord sending out a "click" when
hovering over a window that doesn't have the current focus.

No idea about that.
