Default AntiVirus causing Password Protection?

I have had xp home SP3 for a year. I have 2 User Accts, both Administrative
and neither account has ever ever been password protected. I never even had
passwords for either account. All of the sudden, one of my accounts (mine) on
log on requires password. I have run: control userpasswords2 and there are
NO names. The box is checked users must enter name and passwords,, but again,
there are no names listed. I've gone to Control Panel/User Accts and both say
administrators which is fine,, but why would mine all of the sudden say
password protected? Recently, I had to uninstall my Grisoft Avg 7.5 Anti
Virus (which I've done several times as after it updates and restarts puter,
the Avg. won't load)Each time I UNinstall the boxes are checked to 'remove
user settings' and the reinstall was fine. Could this be at all related to
my problems with username requiring password all of the sudden even though
I've uninstalled several times,, the same way. On top of all this, I noticed
yesterday my SZ (Stop zilla) wouldnt allow me to view sites such as Social
Security , etc which I've always been able to click on just fine. So..if I
UNinstall BOTH Avg 7.5 anti-virus AND SZ (anti spyware),,,then see if my log
on account still requires password,,,,, then what? sorry so long,,,,any
ideas would be greatly appreciated. I've read a few ideas about going into
Safe Mode and tapping F8,etc and I' not at all comfortable with that.

Thanks for you reply I know there's mention of that on their
website,,,but fortunatelly one particular Avg Rep has been helping with the
unstill/reinstall issues. He called Friday but I misssed his call. I will
follow up Monday with him,,,,I just wondered for now...if anyone thinks the
Avg 7.5 problems could be causing the sudden password protection requirement
issue,,, especially since I have had a password. I don't mind
unstalling/reinstalling ,, I'm just 'nervous' about going to all that work to
find out my log on name still needs a password.

Default AntiVirus causing Password Protection?

AVG v7.5 hasn't had an engine update since 31 Aug-08 and hasn't had any
definitions updates since 31 Dec-08, so yes, the lack of a fully-functional
& fully updated AV app could have played a role in this change.

Default AntiVirus causing Password Protection?

According to my Event Viewer, the 'warning' says: """ Windows Saved User (the
System Name Jason\my other account name) registry while an application or
service was still using the registry during log off. The memory used hasnt
been freed. The Registry will be unloaded when its no longer in use. Windows
couldnt unload users profile because a program was referencing the users
section of the registry. This locked the profile.""""" I have NO clue what
all this means or what to do. Again, I have 2 administrative accts. Mine is
the one that all of the sudden is password protected when I NEVER had a
password! grrrrrrrrrr lol Even though the system name has ALWAYS been
Jason,,,, the domaine is MSHome, the workstation is stand alone and no proxy.
The System Information Adv. Error Log shows nothing since last month.

Default AntiVirus causing Password Protection?

I appreciate all the suggestions I have no clue what else to do
According to event viewer/warnings..ID 529 ..it says update to SP3,, which I
already have and for error 680, Microsoft states 'no action'. My system
properties/user profiles reflect both user profiles which is perfect ,,I'm
just wondering if at some point, Avg 7.5 or even StopZilla 'corrupted'
something??? - especially when I read the warning descriptions involving
registry and memory???? Could the SP3 be corrupted as well??

I'd doubt that an after-the-fact upgrade would help here.

Ok... I just upgraded to Avg 8....nothing has changed My log on Name
still requires a password. My user accounts STILL say my name is
password
protected. grrrrrrr

AVG v7.5 hasn't had an engine update since 31 Aug-08 and hasn't had any
definitions updates since 31 Dec-08, so yes, the lack of a
fully-functional
& fully updated AV app could have played a role in this change.

Thanks for you reply I know there's mention of that on their
website,,,but fortunatelly one particular Avg Rep has been helping
with
the
unstill/reinstall issues. He called Friday but I misssed his call. I
will
follow up Monday with him,,,,I just wondered for now...if anyone
thinks
the
Avg 7.5 problems could be causing the sudden password protection
requirement
issue,,, especially since I have had a password. I don't mind
unstalling/reinstalling ,, I'm just 'nervous' about going to all that
work
to find out my log on name still needs a password.

I have had xp home SP3 for a year. I have 2 User Accts, both
Administrative
and neither account has ever ever been password protected. I never
even
had
passwords for either account. All of the sudden, one of my accounts
(mine)
on log on requires password. I have run: control userpasswords2 and
there
are NO names. The box is checked users must enter name and
passwords,,
but
again, there are no names listed. I've gone to Control Panel/User
Accts
and
both say administrators which is fine,, but why would mine all of
the
sudden say password protected? Recently, I had to uninstall my
Grisoft
Avg
7.5 Anti Virus (which I've done several times as after it updates
and
restarts puter, the Avg. won't load)Each time I UNinstall the boxes
are
checked to 'remove user settings' and the reinstall was fine. Could
this
be at all related to my problems with username requiring password
all
of
the sudden even though I've uninstalled several times,, the same
way.
On
top of all this, I noticed yesterday my SZ (Stop zilla) wouldnt
allow
me
to
view sites such as Social Security , etc which I've always been able
to
click on just fine. So..if I UNinstall BOTH Avg 7.5 anti-virus AND
SZ
(anti
spyware),,,then see if my log on account still requires
password,,,,,
then
what? sorry so long,,,,any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
I've
read
a few ideas about going into Safe Mode and tapping F8,etc and I' not
at
all
comfortable with that.
