Can't delete wallpapers from background list
I can't find the solution to this problem on the
internet. I did, however, discover that this problem has vexed users with previous Windows versions, as well. This evening, I found several additional entries on the list of available wallpapers on the Desktop tab of the Display Properties box. These were graphics I put on the computer this morning while doing some work which had nothing to do with configuring my system. For some reason known only to itself, the operating system added these graphics files to the list as wallpaper options -- and now I can't get rid of them. I tried moving the extraneous graphics files to a new folder; but XP is too smart for that, and keeps track of file moves. I'm afraid to delete the files from my computer, because I dread compounding the problem -- having names on the wallpapers list with no valid file references, then finding them listed twice when I put the graphics back on my computer. Since I don't know why the damn operating system added them in the first place. In other words, once again, I'm afraid to touch my computer. Can someone tell me please how to get these selections off the choices listed for available wallpapers? Thanks. |

Can't delete wallpapers from background list
Hi,
The pictures that show up under display properties, desktop are located in these folders: C:\Documents and Settings\user name\My Documents\My Pictures C:\WINDOWS\Web\Wallpaper C:\Windows\Resources\Themes TweakUI for XP: Unchecking "Lock Web Content" under Explorer to be added to desktop disables the pictures from being listed. http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/p.../powertoys.asp Workarounds: Create another folder (under your user profile), remove the pictures from My Pictures that you don't want listed under Backgrounds and in the My Pictures folder, create a shortcut to the new folder. Or create subfolders within My Pictures. Add Folders to the "Save As" Dialog (Places Bar) Line 117 http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm Disable Default Save As to My Pictures (Line 111) http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm Add Folder to Start Menu to replace/re-route My Pictures (Line 2) http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm -- All the Best, Kelly MS-MVP Win98/XP [AE-Windows® XP] Troubleshooting Windows XP http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com Top 10 Frequently Asked Questions and Answers http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/top10faqs.htm "rdarmand" wrote in message ...
