Default "What U Hear" gone (since update?)

I do a lot of audio editing. I have used Audition for
years to process location recordings I make of chamber
groups. I also occasionally use Audition to record
something on my PC - a podcast, I come across in a
browser, for example. I tried to record something recently
and could not. In Audition's audio device settings the
Creative sound card's "What U Hear" is missing. I did some
searching and found non-definitive answers to the effect
that MS has yielded to the RIAA and disables such
recordings. True?

Are you sure your setting (enable-ment), didn't get
cleared by a driver update ?

Sometimes, the salient features of hardware, travel
with the driver, and if a new driver comes in, the
settings are "thrown away".

My favorite example, is having my damn "screen blanking"
set back to 10 minutes, over and over and over and over
again. And that's related to new drivers coming into
the machine. Blink... and back it goes to ten minutes.

Find the procedure you used to enable Stereo Mix
originally, and repeat the process.

I think the trick was that "right-click" menu
and the items in it.

Here's mine in 16299.334 and it's working.

Maybe not the same, but related... Check the properties of the device.
You might find "Listen to this device".
