Default Lexmark Z517 problem solved!

Thanks to posts I found in this group, and a little luck, I solved this
problem.

Briefly: I bought a Lexmark Z517 from Woolworths for very cheap. Got it
home, and the Windows PnP insisted it was a "Z600 series".

Could NOT get it to work, and the Lexmark "help" section was a complete
waste of time.

I discovered that some Z517s were shipped with the incorrect firmware
on them (hence windows thinking it's a Z600 you're plugging in).

Here's what I did.

1. Removed the printer from my system and uninstalled the Z517
software.
2. Rebooted.
3. Downloaded from the Lexmark website the generic Z600 drivers.
4. Unzipped and installed them.
5. Rebooted again.

And hey presto! It all works.

Mainly just posting this as it may help others in the same situation I
found myself in.

Best to all

John
