Default Networking Problem

I didn't locate a WinXP networking group, so I'll try here.

Trying to network two PCs, one WinXP Home and one WinXP Pro. The WinXP
Pro
PC has Simple File Sharing enabled.

The Pro machine has an external USB HDD. I cannot access this external
HDDs
shared folders from the WinXP Home machine. I'm quite sure I've set up
both
PCs correctly. I have four internal HDDs in the same Pro machine and I
can
access any shared folder on any drive from the WinXP Home machine.

I just reinstalled the operating system on the Home machine. I had no
problem accessing the external HDD before this reinstall.

One thing that is different is the Home machine is updated to SP3, before
when it was working only SP2 was installed.

Second question. Should I be able to burn DVDs in the Pro machine from
the
Home machine across the network?

Any suggestions appreciated.
