Default Picture sorting & burning

When auto sorting "my pictures" the MS method they number as "name", name(1),
name(2), name(3) etc. Whether using Nero, Roxio or MS Media to burn a Data
DVD, (to send jpg images for viewing on a DVD player or be able to print
photos) they re-sort as "name", "name(1)", "name(10)" to "name(19)", then
"name(2)", "name(21)". i.e. they re-sort by secondary numbering, defeating
the purpose of sorting multiple pictures.

Suggestiions have been to bring them over in batches which is impossible if
they are in multiple folders, or renumber all pictures as 1, 2,3,4 etc. which
is too cumbersome. Suggestions?

I save my pictures to different Folders, each Folder named for their
contents. Then I drag the folder to a data DVDr.

Have you tired numbering yours as name01, name02, etc.? If you have more
than 100 you may have to start with name001, etc..

Could do, but you are implying I would have to individually re-name each of
my total of 2063 pictures.

When I drag folders over to be burnt, pictures still re-sort within the
folder, when viewed after burning.

Can I assume auto numbering is not compatable to burning with the hope of
keeping them in a set order? Or is there another software program that will
keep them in the order as seen in "My Pictures" on my hard drive? What is
disheartening is they stay in order when copied to a memory stick or remote
hard drive, but don't when copied to a burning program, a flaw in any burning
software I've tried to date.

Instead of name(1), use name(01)....
Then when the photos are burned, the names will occur in the order name(01)
through name(19) followed by name(20) and so on.

I'm not sure how "auto numbering" works since I've never used it but if
you have 2063 pictures, why not copy them all to another folder and then
rename the first one, name, to name0001 and then try auto numbering the
rest?
