How do you mean "make the one in Windows 7 ACT the same (my emphasis) as the
one in XP"?

Only the tool bar has changed to accommodate the different tools.

I have View set to Details. On the XP version, I can scroll down the
left column with the arrow keys and the view will open, in the right
window, the contents of the folder I have arrowed to. In the Windows7
version, you have to hit the enter key, or use the mouse.

Another thing that drives me nuts, is when I do click on a folder, or
the + to open the sub folders in the left window, it opens the folder
but the moves the view to the bottom of the windows. I have to scroll
down to see the sub-folders.

Don't think you can change that....

Nope - doesn't do that here...

I hate that too, it drives me nuts the way it shoots to the bottom of the
page and you have to 'pull' it up again.
The XP Explorer was easier to negotiate.

A few things are nice, like the Libraries, Downloads and Recent Places.

I hope someone can offer a happy in between XP and W7 :-)

I am sure it has nothing to do with it, but I loaded the 32bit version
(fearing my image editor's plugins might not work with the 64bit).

You are lucky it doesn't do that, it is very annoying.

I have partly got around it by not clicking on the left but opening every
folder in a new window, then closing the ones I don't want.

Expand the drive /directory in the left column, then click on the folder and
it opens on the right.

I'm glad I'm not the only one.
