xp install no vol or mixer sound not working

i have xp its at least 2 yers old my puter crashed i lost
some boot config files start up so i couldnt find my xp cd
i went out got 1 from best buy install it fat32 2nd install
i lost the vollume mixer default sound ? i have a creative
audtgy 2 sound card it worked for a second then re started
for no reason and it has not played a sound after this so
i removed the audtgy 2 sound card and used the MB bilt in
sound card installed MB sound driver and bios enabled the
on board sound i still get no sound ? i did reg the new
version xp and 3hrs later i am stuck any help would be so
nice i dont know what to do LOL thanks dee
