Taking a sceen from a web page and using as a desktop
There is a web page that has a beautiful movie and I would like to take a snapshot of a sceen in the movie and use it as a desktop. The movie is running in Flash Player 11.2 Can that be done? |

Sure! There are many free utilities that can do a frame save. But you don't need one because you have Snipping Tool under Accessories. Run the video, halt at the place you want, save with Snipping Tool. Ed And the developer here, thinks the Snipping Tool is quite potent, in the sense that it cannot be stopped from capturing a frame from a Flash movie. Initially, I was concerned that it wouldn't capture Flash, but the OP in this thread seems to think it can. http://stackoverflow.com/questions/6...-snipping-tool I wonder if that includes all the various means of protecting Flash ? There is at least one plugin, used for DRM reasons, which I thought could be used to control Flash capture. I guess we'll see, when the OP tests it. One problem with extracting a single frame from a video, is "motion blur". If the scene in the movie is static for a second, the result shouldn't look that bad. Paul |

Paul I've just tried it out using a random youtube video. I got it playing, chose full-screen size, stopped it, snipped to desktop. Then I opened it with irfanview (freeware) and that has the option to set as wallpaper. But I edited it first with Irfanview because I'd chosen full-screen snip and that contains taskbar. Ed |

Press the "PrtSc" key at the exact moment, then open "paint" and paste (ctrl + v). Crop, edit, save. Your response doesn't count!!! It is too simple. You have to make it more complicated. Then you'll earn your keep! You should advise people to install Photoshop and then offer them a 3 year course to learn how to use it. -- choro PS. I prefer to use the freebie Irfan View which is far superior to Paint. |

It can control a scanner for single images or multiple-image TIFFs, and can save in many, many formats. It's also quite fast. http://www.irfanview.com/ -- Stan Brown, Oak Road Systems, Tompkins County, New York, USA http://OakRoadSystems.com Shikata ga nai... |

I've just done that with FLV Player and Avidemux. As to online playing in youtube, I think they all have the pause button bottom left. Ed |
