CD vs. DVD (OT?)
I'm trying to burn recovery disks for my computer.
At the beginning it told me that I would need 10 CD's or 2 DVD's. Do I understand correctly that data can be stored on DVD's as well as on CD's, but that DVD's have a considerably larger capacity? Thanks! |

Standard DVDs hold up to 4.7GB of data and double density DVDs hold roughly 8Gb, while a CD can hold no more than 700MB. -- Bruce Chambers Help us help you: http://www.catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/555375 They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety. ~Benjamin Franklin Many people would rather die than think; in fact, most do. ~Bertrand Russell The philosopher has never killed any priests, whereas the priest has killed a great many philosophers. ~ Denis Diderot |
