Default OT : Vista

I'm trying to work on my wife's computer, which has Vista installed.
The only newsgroup I can find on my server dealing with Vista (in
English) is alt.os.windows-vista.

There seems to be very little traffic, compared to this group.

What I am trying to do is to activate the automatic email check (every
XX minutes) within Vista Windows Mail.
I followed the instructions on Microsoft's site, bit I can't figure
out how to get the program to actually activate a notofication (either
a sound, a pop-up frame, or both) when the program finds a newly
arrived email.

Please:

1 . I know there are knowledgeable people in this group, and I won't
mind an answer here.
or
2. Can you tell me if there's a newsgroup where I can get some
answers?

Thanks bunches!

Hi John,
Use Outlook Express instead. (As I cannot comment at all
on )Get the POP3 settings from your email provider. You may have varying
degrees of success in trying to do this. Some email providers make it easy
to obtain this small bit of important information, and with others it is
virtually impossible (the words 'blood' and 'stone' come to mind). You want
two bits of info from them:

The POP3 (incoming) server for you email provider, and;
The STMP (outgoing) server for you email provider

They should look something like this (my own) for example:

POP3 Sever = pop.gawab.com
STMP Server = smtp.gawab.com

You then start OE and choose from the top menu Tools Accounts Add
(button) ...and a wizard 'style' dialog will start, enabling you to enter
all you email providers information. You will also need on more bit of
information, that is your account name (and password) to complete this
'wizard'.
OE should now be configured and, after setting your preferences, you
should have your emails downloaded to the program automatically (you can set
the interval between each time OE looks for new emails on the server).
Hope this is of some help to you.

That's what I couldn't comment on (as I now realise I did not finish writing
my post).
This can be a problem in trying to answer problems about Vista in an XP
newsgroup when I should not have done.
