Having multiple REG entries run in one file - maybe Kelly can assist
Was wondering if there is a way that I can have say 20 or 30 favourite
reg entries in one REG file and when I run that file it will import them all in one go? Perhaps Kelly... in all your wonderful wisdom, you may know or if there is a utility that allows you to import entries from a location/folder so you can make one file. Thanks |

Just open one of the REG files, as a "master". Then open each of the
others, copy and paste the relavant portitions into the "master", then save the master. All the entries will be imported with one double click. -- Doug Knox, MS-MVP Windows XP/ Windows Smart Display Win 95/98/Me/XP Tweaks and Fixes http://www.dougknox.com -------------------------------- Associate Expert ExpertZone - http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/expertzone -------------------------------- Please reply only to the newsgroup so all may benefit. Sure, you can put loads of reg entries into one file.
If you look at a .reg file with notepad, you should be able to see what is inside. An older .reg file from Win9x/NT is just ASCII, but the newer ones from Win2k/XP are Unicode - Notepad should be able to handle either. If you export from XP regedit, you can select "registration files" or "Win9x/NT registration files" for either Unicode or ASCII as the format to export to. If you have multiple .reg files that you want to lump together, you should be able to just add the stuff from one file to another, but only put in the first line that indicates the file type once - it should look like one of the two lines below, depending on the type of file: REGEDIT4 Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 Below that should be things that look something like the stuff below: (these are the parts that you should be able to merge into one file) [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE_OR_USERS_OR\FullNameOfKey\AndAn ySubkeys\AndSoForth] @="default value" "SomeNumericValue"=dword:00000002 "SomeStringValue"="A string" The part in square brackets specifies a key (created if necessary) The lines below the key specify values to create/change under that key In article , "©®" wrote: |Was wondering if there is a way that I can have say 20 or 30 favourite |reg entries in one REG file and when I run that file it will import them |all in one go? | |Perhaps Kelly... in all your wonderful wisdom, you may know or if there |is a utility that allows you to import entries from a location/folder so |you can make one file. |Thanks |
