How to stop XP asking for activation when it's already activated
My laptop is already activated with XP but every time I reboot, it
asks me to activate again. I first activated it a few months ago, having just bought it as new from Ebay. It didn't come with an installation CD but has a sticker with the XP serial number. A few days ago, it started giving me the activation screen again each time I re-booted. So I have to go through the whole ritual each time. It DOES successfully activate each time - it says so - so this doesn't look like a problem with a pirate copy. Nor is it a problem with the 30 days grace period having expired. Also, this isn't the problem that some people have had, whereby they are told to activate and then it says "already activated" -- but the 30 day counter carries on ticking down. My counter doesn't seem to be decreasing. Nor have I made any system changes. Any ideas? |

How to stop XP asking for activation when it's already activated
Reboot to Safe Mode:
Reboot tapping F8 each second. Select Safe Mode at the menu Start/Run Type "regsvr32.exe regwizc.dll" ENTER Type "regsvr32.exe licdll.dll" ENTER Reboot. Activate again Reboot Hopefully your laptop came with a Recovery partition, you may need it or you may have to buy Windows XP. -- Jupiter Jones [MVP] http://www3.telus.net/dandemar/ "J Jenkins" wrote in message om...
