Default dvd/music?

Are you talking about a video dvd and you just want music
tracks? If so, you can do it but it's a pain in the
bu**. Here's how I did it. I have a creative labs sound
card. It's has a recorder program that will let you
accept from various inputs. If you have a recorder
program, open it up and set it so that it sees the DVD
drive as input. You may have to adjust settings a couple
of times to get it to work correctly. Start your DVD and
go to the part that you want to record. Start your
recorder and it will record it out as a wav file. You can
then use a third party utility to change it to mp3 or
whatever.
