Default Limits on sibfolders?

I am using Windows XP Home with the SP2 upgrade. I have recently discovered
that subfolders I created before the upgrade that are eight or more levels
below the My Documents folder are no longer accessable, that I can't open the
files in them and that some of the file names are now deemed to be too long.
Is this some built in limit in XP or has SP2 messed up something?

The path can only have 260 characters. A path is structured as follows:
drive letter, colon, backslash, components separated by backslashes, and a
null-terminating character. For example, the maximum path on the D drive is
D:\256 charsNUL.

File names in XP can have up to 255 characters.

You might want to have a look at this.

[[This problem may occur if the system PATH environment variable is longer
than 1024 characters when the program is installed. ]]
[[After you install this hotfix or Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2), the PATH
environment variable limit is increased to 2,048 characters.]]

Thanks Wes!!! Apparently I had exceeded the 260 limit on path length.
Moving the affected folders up in the hierarchy resolved the problem.

I'm impressed with this way of getting help. I really didn't expect to get
an answer and certainly not so quickly. Again, Thank You!
