XP WON'T POWER DOWN CORRECTLY AND GET ERROR MESSAGE ON BOOT
I HAVE two problems with my xp home edition. (and msft wanted $$ for a even
a chat solution, so thought would try somebodoy here) 1) On power down, my xp- home will not go into stand bye, and when I then try to a total power down, sometimes it does and sometimes it just stops on the blue screen which says it’s powering down but does not do it. So I must turn off the power to the pc. When I turn it back on the monitor says preparing to go to sleep and goes ahead and boots ok. 2) However when it is nearly booted I get a small screen which says. “Cannot create shell notification” So then I must click X to clear the screen so booting can complete. I get this every time I boot. I did a system restore recently because of numerous other problems, but these problems continue. |

Have you gone to power settings in control panel and selected how you want
your computer to respond to certain actions? "GOTCHAKID" wrote in message ... I HAVE two problems with my xp home edition.
