Default Roamin Profiles

I have several xp sp2 worksations using roamin profiles. every so often a
user profile will get corrupt and becomes unusable. all of the data is still
there but the start bar is all strange and application cease to function. you
have to then rebuild their profile from scratch. is there and easier way of
doing this? can i restore from backup or run a repair tool of some kind?
