I have a Western Digital My Book (World Edition) connected via nic to
wireless router. Have previously had no issues with mapped network drived till i reformatted and reinstalled xp to my laptop. (Previously running xp). system is exactly the same... only difference is that I have gone from AVG Free antivirus to ESET Smart Security. I can map my network drived to the My Book, all others work appart from one. But I can access the unc path without issues. Please help... going Grey and pulling out hair!! |

Unable to access networked drive, but able to access same unc path
Hi
If the network IP changed and the Firewall changed it could be that the current I is Not anymore in the Trusted zone and block sharing. It should be readjusted (read the ESET manual). General example, http://www.ezlan.net/faq#trusted Make sure that the Software Firewall on each computer allows free local traffic. If you use 3rd party Firewall On, Vista/XP Native Firewall should be Off, and the active Firewall has to adjusted to your Network IP numbers on what is some time called the Trusted Zone (consult your 3rd Party Firewall instructions. Unable to access networked drive, but able to access same unc
But the strange thing is that I have other mapped drives to the same device
and they work absolutely fine, it is just the one particular mapped drive. I have assigned a static IP to the device. The IP range has been added to the trusted zone. Also I have checked and re-checked the permissions on the shared folder. I have a 2003 server which has no issues accessing the same mapped drive. It has the same ESET antivirus and firewall installed. PS: Extra hair loss!
