Default Workgroup and Internet Oriented Programs

I have 3 computers hooked up to a central HUB all with XP home. I just installed XP, and tried to set up a workgroup. But for some reason they can see me, cannot access me, and I can't see them still. I can get on the internet fine, but I cant access real
player or Juno. THe programs say they cant see a connection. The Firewall is off, and I can't figure it out.

Adam,

You're a little short on details here.

What firewall (brand / version) (on which computer) is off? Some third party
firewalls can't be disabled successfully. You might be better off un
installing, or enabling then allow file and printer sharing by opening the
following ports: TCP 139, 445; UDP 137, 138, 445.

Which computer can access the internet (how?) but can't access Real Player or
Juno? Why do you need either? ;}

Please provide ipconfig information for each computer.
Start - Run - "ipconfig /all c:\ipconfig.txt" - Open c:\ipconfig.txt in
Notepad, copy and paste into your next post.

What type of internet service do you have (dialup, cable, DSL)? You can't use a
hub to share internet service - what is your internet sharing (router, ICS,
proxy server)?

Cheers,
Chuck

Well, using a hub (instead of a DSL/Cable modem router),
you probably do not have DHCP services running, unless
you are running ICS on one of the computers. Without
this, IP setup will be a real pain. I would suggest you
run ICS just for these services, even if you are not
accessing the Internet from all the computers.

Anyway, for additional info, check out the post following
this, as I just talked in some detail about this, and
have also disucssed this in several of the other posts
here. Check them out too.

Thanks, Jack
